What’s goin on guys, Jerry Neutron here and I’m back with another video. Today we’re gonna take a look at a product from AKRacing and if you like Mountain Dew, 360 No Scopes and Doritos then this is definitely for you!
This is the AK-6014, a gaming chair by a European company by the name of AKRacing. This particular model is a black on white version although they do have several colors available. Now much like Ozone, this is a brand that is carried exclusively by 4GamerGear on the US side so they sent me this chair to check out.
Now admittedly I’m not a huge fan of these racing seats but I thought it wouldn’t hurt to at least give it a try.
Anyway, let’s finish putting it together and see what it’s all about…
(construction timelapse)
Done! What do you guys think?
The entire chair is constructed of a mix between metal, plastic and faux leather.
Stitching seems to be well done for the most part. I do like the AKRacing logo at the top of the chair however if I had to nitpick I’d say it doesn’t really need to be on the optional cushions as well.
I would like to see them tighten up the cover a little bit as it looks loose in certain areas which brings down the overall quality of the chair.
The chair does have a few nice features however like height adjustable arm rests, seat height adjustment and backrest adjustment. In fact you can lean back nearly 180 degrees. I don’t know why anyone would need that much adjust-ability but it’s nice to be able to lean back a little on a lazy day.
It also comes with a headrest pillow and lumbar cushion which is nice. I really like the lumbar support because I have terrible posture so having that extra padding back there helps a bunch and forces me to sit correctly.
Bigger guys should have no issues fitting in this chair as well as it supports just under 400lbs. The bottom cushion is 14.3 inches wide and the backrest is 21.6 inches at it’s narrowest point.
Moving around isn’t an issue either despite the plastic wheels which I expect to be pretty durable.
Comfort-wise I’d say this chair is pretty firm. Not like sitting on concrete firm but if you prefer to sink into your chair you may want to look elsewhere. It took me a little bit to get used to but after using it for a couple of weeks I don’t mind it.
Overall I can’t think of anything really wrong with this chair. I would like to see them tighten up the quality control a bit and the comfort part is pretty subjective however there’s really nothing functionally wrong with it.
I would still prefer a normal office chair over something like this but if you’re considering a racing chair this may be worth a look.
Let me know what you guys think down in the comments below, links are in the description if you wanna pick one up for yourself.
